Special thanks to all parents and athletes who were in attendance for the Parent/athlete meeting on  Thursday, Feb. 16.  If you have any questions send us an email or call (815-877-9975).

Team Policies

All male students are invited to participate (no cuts).

Through hard work and dedication to the team, they may earn a uniform and a position in our meets.

Eligibility

Athletes are expected to live up to the high standards that are set by Boylan Catholic High School. Coaches will receive an eligibility notice each week.

Practice and Meet Attendance

Each athlete is expected to be in attendance for the entirety of each practice and meet. Whatever the reason, athletes will need a note from a parent or a sponsor when they are absent from practice or a meet. This note is still needed if you are absent or leave early from school. This note is to be presented before the absence or on the day of the return. Without this note, your absence will be considered unexcused. If an athlete misses practice the day before a meet, he may be suspended from that meet.

Unexcused absences from practice

Unexcused absences include, but are not limited to work, hair appointment, birthdays, my uniform was in the wash, my parents are taking me to Chicago tonight, I forgot to change/ or set the alarm on my clock, etc.

1st : One (1) meet suspension (and you must attend and assist at the suspended meet)

2nd: Possible dismissal from the team.

Unexcused absences from meets

1st: Possible dismissal from the team.

Total Absences

Once the total of 6 (Un + Ex) has been reached, dismissal from the team may occur.

Practice Participation

We (coaches) will accept any level of talent in our program, but we will only tolerate one level of attitude. Every athlete is expected to attend and participate in every practice. Being there is just not good enough. If an athlete is not feeling well he should dress and participate within his limits. Without a parental note or a notice from our trainer or doctor, a “no dress” will count as an unexcused absence.

Tardiness

Whenever you are late for practice, you need a note from a parent, teacher, or sponsor upon arrival. The tardiness will be considered as unexcused if you do not have a note or do not go directly to practice.

Unexcused Tardies

Three (3) unexcused tardies = one (1) unexcused absence

Inappropriate Behavior

If a coach dismisses an athlete from practice due to inappropriate behavior, he may receive an unexcused absence for the day or removal from the team.

Transportation

We have three travel scenarios.

1. Two-way bus - Parents may sign-out their child at the end of the meet.  Due to liability, students will only be allowed to leave with their parents.  If you wish to travel with another adult, a note from your parents is required.   (Major out-of-town events)

2. One-way bus – students who do not drive to school, must take the bus to the event. Parents are to pickup at the event, not at Boylan. (Local events)

3.NO BUS – students are responsible to find their own transportation to and from the meet. (Local Invites or Relays)

ALL athletes are required to be at each Track competition until they are dismissed by the coaching staff at the conclusion of the LAST event.  Team prayer and announcements will follow the last event.
